MITOcare Diagnostics

The genetic test for risk & side effects of more than 100 medications

With the PharmaGenes Advanced Genetic Test from MITOcare Diagnostics, physicians finally have a tool at hand to analyze the tolerability of over 100 medications for patients.

Using a complex algorithm, 88 variants in 32 genes associated with the response and/or risk of side effects of more than 100 medications are analyzed in the therapeutic areas of psychiatry, pain management, oncology, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In addition, the copy number variation of the CYP2D6 gene is assessed, taking into account the presence of hybrid alleles in relation to the CYP2D7 gene.

The results report enables an individual treatment plan to be drawn up, taking into account the patient's genetic tolerance.

All the information in the evaluation is formulated in an easily understandable way and is clearly visible in the form of bar charts.

What is the focus of PharmaGenes Advanced?

Easily understandable result

The evaluation of the findings is presented in a clear form using icons and bar charts.
Each area is explained in three sections:

  • Use with extreme caution or switching the medicine
  • Use with caution
  • Use according to instructions

The findings will be understandable for the doctor and will help to adjust the patient's medication based on his genetic profile.

How DNA is decoded

The PharmaGenes Advanced genetic test uses a polygenic calculation model - this means that all individual contributions of each genetic variant in combination with the environment are taken into account (polygenic effect). The complex algorithm creates an evaluation model based on a large number of variables, i.e. genetic characteristics. The outcome of the evaluation model is more important than the number of genes that may be labeled as altered. No genetic variant should be interpreted individually. The results are presented in bar charts.

Procedure & instructions

1 Meeting between doctor & patient

As a doctor, you can introduce the PharmaGenes Advanced genetic test to your patients and explain the importance of pharmacogenetics to them. If a patient wants to take this genetic test, the entire process goes through the doctor. It is not permitted for a customer to purchase the test independently.

2 Doctor ordered via the order form

The doctor orders the PharmaGenes Advanced genetic test on behalf of his patient using the form linked here for a fee of €570.85 gross and fills it out together with the patient.

The patient's full contact details must be provided (address for the invoice & e-mail address for sending the invoice). The doctor's practice serves as the delivery address.

The form must be signed by both the patient and the doctor and can then be sent to bestellung@mitocare.de to order the chargeable PharmaGenes Advanced genetic test from MITOcare.

Our customer service will contact the doctor and the patient (e-mail in CC) with an order confirmation and further payment processing. The order is sent to the patient by purchase on account for €570.85 gross.

3 Sending the test to the doctor

Once the order has been received, MITOcare will send the genetic test within 3 working days. The genetic test will be sent to the doctor's practice. We will forward the tracking link by e-mail. We cannot influence the speed of the parcel service providers.

4 Checking the order for completeness

The following parts should be included in the shipping box supplied:
• 1 instruction manual
• 1 declaration of consent
• 1 prepaid plastic return bag
• Closure clips for the return envelope
• Packet with swab tubes & throat swabs for saliva collection
• Including biohazard transport bag with absorbent cloth

5 Making an appointment with the patient

The doctor should make an appointment with the patient for the test to be carried out in the practice

5
6
6 Read the instructions carefully

Doctor & patient should read the instructions (click here) carefully & completely before starting.

7 Carry out a saliva sample

In order to provide a usable saliva sample, the patient should follow the instructions exactly according to the steps given. The sample is then sent as described in the instructions. Important: The recipient address of the result is the doctor's address

7
8
8 Analysis of the DNA

After reaching the laboratory, the saliva sample is carefully analyzed & evaluated according to a complex algorithm. This can take up to 10 working days. The findings are then sent in printed form to the practice address provided.

9 Discussion of the results

The doctor will receive a folder by post with the results of the PharmaGenes Advanced genetic test. The doctor should then make an appointment to discuss the results with the patient. At the appointment, the doctor will hand over the documents, explain the evaluation and, if necessary, adjust any medication already prescribed to the result. The doctor should also make a note of the results in the patient's file.

This genetic test has been developed for use as a professional tool for doctors and healthcare professionals. The knowledge gained can help to determine a personalized treatment, always taking care to increase efficacy while minimizing the risk of side effects.

This test and the results obtained do not claim to be a substitute for professional medical advice and treatment. The results of this genetic test do not depend on the physical, clinical or therapeutic condition of the person tested.

Disclaimer

Lifestyle genetics is a field of genetics that studies the relationship between genes and individual traits that affect a healthy lifestyle. The use of genetic predisposition information to create a dietary plan should be combined with information on physical characteristics (e.g. age, gender, etc.) and behavioral information (e.g. eating habits, physical activity, etc.). The results of the genetic test cannot be used for clinical diagnosis, disease prevention or assessment of a clinical condition. The result of the genetic test is not dependent on the physical or clinical condition or therapy management of the person tested.
