Our MITOcare add·on 5-HTP contains 5-hydroxytryptophan, which is obtained from the seeds of the African black bean (Griffonia simplicifolia). In the body, the essential amino acid L-tryptophan is first required to produce 5-HTP, which acts as a neurotransmitter and as a direct precursor of the so-called "happiness hormone" serotonin. Unlike L-tryptophan, the body's own 5-HTP is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, leading to an increase in serotonin production in the central nervous system. Serotonin production in the body can be limited by various factors. Vegetarians and vegans may have an increased need, as well as individuals who are exposed to prolonged stress.

The product also contains pantothenic acid, which contributes to normal steroid hormone metabolism1, such as cortisol, which is also known as the stress hormone. By helping to reduce fatigue3 and support mental performance2, pantothenic acid can also have a positive effect on overall drive4. The product is further accompanied by unrefined reishi mushroom powder.
