The body's own coenzyme Q10 is the actor of oxidative phosphorylation over which about 90% of the total body energy (ATP = adenosintriphosphate) is generated. Interestingly, high energy requirements such as heart, liver and lungs also have the highest Q10 concentration in the body. In the 50s Q10 was first discovered in the beef hearts. Here started exploring this coenzyme. In 1978, the big breakthrough was achieved when the British scientist Peter Mitchell was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry to explore Q10. He could prove the outstanding meaning of the body's own Q10 for cell energy vendor.
