Our MITOcare add·on BCAA contains the three essential amino acids L-leucine, L-isoleucine & L-valine in a ratio of 2:1:1, which the body cannot produce itself and must therefore be supplied through food. BCAA stands for Branched-Chain Amino Acids, i.e. branched-chain amino acids. This name can be traced back to the chemical structure of the amino acids, as they have side chains that resemble branches. There are metabolic similarities in the degradation of the three branched-chain amino acids. The first steps are carried out by the same enzymes. In addition to protein synthesis and as an energy substrate, BCAA serve as nitrogen sources in the brain and peripheral tissue and thus in the synthesis of some neurotransmitters. However, as BCAA are mainly found in the skeletal muscles in the body, they are often used in strength and endurance sports.
